Are you at a crossroads? Wait till you hear about the universe!
How often in your life have you felt like you are at a crossroads? You get to a point where you have to make a decision about what to do next with your life and the choices, in some cases, can be quite disparate. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming to have to make the choice but it is important to note that the keyword is “choice”. If you decide to not act when you are at the cross roads, this is also a choice. If you leave your path up to the universe or god or heavens or luck or fate or random chaos (insert your own words), that too is a choice.
I know sometimes when at a crossroads, I have wanted to not choose and just hope it goes away or sorts itself out. I have come to the realization that by putting conscious thought into choosing the path and then using intuition, I can feel that I had some control over the direction. Since I do not believe that some white haired, white man is sitting on top of a fluffy cloud watching my every move and guiding my life, the direction of my life is, to a certain degree, within my control. I realize of course that total control is an illusion but I like the feeling that I have the ability to influence the outcome.
We all have our own belief systems when it comes to life. Some believe a “higher power” or god is in control and we must listen to the messages. While I don’t believe in one thing external to me controlling the direction of my life, I do believe the remaining sensitive to our environment so I can improve the ability for best choice and best result when at a crossroads. For me, being sensitive to the environment means developing and trusting other senses beyond sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. It means being sensitive by using other senses like intuition. Intuition is an ancient sense of knowing something to be true or right without seeming to have a reason. Intuition is often that “gut feeling” that something is wrong or something is right. It is really no surprise we often feel things in our gut first. The gut is the largest source of immunity and largest storage site of hormones like serotonin. When we are stressed but don’t know why, we can get a queasy feeling in our gut. If you don’t listen to that, you may start sweating or hyperventilating and by that time, you might be so overcome with fear that you cannot make the decision in time.
Scientists have found that when people are asked to choose images that they have seen before, their recall is improved when the brain is forced to multi-task. It appears that when we rely on subconscious to make decisions, we have better outcomes. Some people are clearly better at this than others. Everyone can develop intuition. When at a crossroads, mull the decisions, then press “pause”. Stop mulling and do other things to distract you. Then, when the first idea suggesting direction or choice pops out of subconscious – go with that. It is most likely to represent choice made my intuition and likely to be best choice. Best to start practicing on things with low stakes like, “what shall I have for lunch?”
Finally, if you think you have it tough with making a decision, consider the state of the universe. Recently it was discovered that the weight of the Higgs Boson (aka God particle) is approximately 126 GeV. This is relevant because theoretical physicists have stated that if the weight of the God particle is more than 126 GeV, the universe could be unstable but if it is less than 126 GeV, the universe is stable and expanding. The results from the large hadron collider (LHC) in Swizerland show that the universe is at a major crossroads. More data might show the universe to be stable or it might show to be unstable and collapsing. I am going to assume the universe has no choice in the direction it goes but if it does, it is keeping it a secret for now!
So, rest easy and know that which ever choice you make at your crossroads, it is not likely to mean the end of the world, or the universe!
