The Use of Anchors or Associations


Sometimes our behaviours are so ingrained that it seems we are powerless to them.  Take for example a person who regularly smokes tobacco.  Most smokers will tell you that the cigarette is associated with an emotion.  Many people smoke after a meal or with their coffee.  In some cases the association is chemical where the nicotine causes a stimulation of pleasure centres in the brain; the same thing happens with eating food.  In order to change a behaviour such an addiction or a habit, the associations must be recognized and then substitutions can be used.  A smoker may start by disconnecting smoking with meals or coffee to break the pleasure cycle.  

Anchors can be used the same to create good habits or positive changes in behaviour too.  Let’s say for example you want to start exercising everyday.  You may normally find the act of getting out for exercise to be difficult but if you were to associate the act of getting out for exercise with something you enjoy and can easily do, you might find more success.  Let’s say you really enjoy chocolate.  Something to consider is just before you go for a walk, have a small piece of chocolate – not so much to defeat the purpose to burning calories.  After a few weeks, the chocolate is like the anchor to exercise and creates a positive association.  Just before you go exercise, your brain is stimulated with serotonin to make you feel happy and endorphins which act as your body’s natural pain killers.  Now that sounds like a good combo before exercise!  

In the Ekahi Method, I regularly speak of the importance of daily Resetting of your Base Frequency.  I find many people have difficulty remembering to Reset in a day or they have trouble staying in state of mindfulness.  The body spray, roll-on, and candles were specifically developed to act as an anchor for Resetting.  You might be in a situation when you are out in your community and you suddenly feel out of your Base Frequency.  Maybe you feel anxious or stressed?  This is a perfect time to use the specifically formulated Resetting roll-on or spray.  Inhale deeply and let the anchoring effect help remind you to breathe deeply and restore your natural frequency.  

The anchoring effect of the candle for meditation is really powerful.  I choose the same spot everyday to sit and be mindful.  Just the act of lighting the candle immediately starts to Reset my Base Frequency.  Once the candle is lit and I am about to sit for 20 minutes, I mist my face with my Yellow Base Frequency spray and inhale deeply.  I have done this so often that the effect is immediate and easily allows my nervous system to settle me into Base Frequency.  If I need an even deeper anchor, I will play the sounds of the ocean waves designed for my Base Frequency.  Developing the anchors to have a rapid and powerful effect takes practice.  Give yourself a few weeks of daily dedication to their use.
